Sivert Joramo, 88, a life-time resident of Everett, WA quietly passed away on September 14, 2013. He was born June 10, 1925 to Emil and Konstance (Karlsen) Joramo on the family farm in Karnes, Norway. Sivert immigrated to America with his parents in 1927. His family lived in Wisconsin and Oregon before settling in Everett in 1930. Upon graduation from Everett High School in 1943, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving the majority of his enlistment aboard the sub-chaser USS PC 1146 in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Pacific. After the war and while attending Everett Junior College, Sivert met and married his wife of 66 years, Patricia Laura Bannister, of Everett, WA. Their daughters Pamela Diane and Margo Lynn were born while he continued his education and supported his young family working for the American Tugboat Company. From the University of Washington in 1960, he earned a BA degree in Industrial Education. He was a well-respected wood/metal shop and mechanical drawing teacher at Centralia and Mountlake Terrace Junior High Schools for 22 years. Sivert was a life member of Normanna Lodge #3 Sons of Norway and the National Education Association. He also was a member of the Everett Norwegian Male Chorus, the Pacific Coast Norwegian Singers Association, the Stillaguamish Senior Center "Stilly Singers", the SnoKing Retired Teachers Association, the American Legion, the Patrol Craft Sailor Association and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Laura Joramo; brother, Hal Joramo; sister, Evelyn (Dick) Rose; daughters, Pamela (Ken) DeLong and Margo (Forrest) Olson; grandson, Loren Ramey; granddaughters, Amy (Glen) Banks, Neely (Emilio) Beltran, and Gina Olson; great granddaughters, Claudia Banks, Teagan Banks, and Addison Huston; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins in Norway, Minnesota, Nevada and Pennsylvania. A memorial service to celebrate Sivert's life will be Sunday, October 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 215 Mukilteo Blvd, Everett, WA 98203. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Everett Norwegian Male Chorus, 2725 Oaks Ave, Everett, WA 98201; Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Ave, Suite 500, Everett, WA 98201; or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
